“The smells of Christmas are the smells of childhood.”
― Richard Paul Evans (The Christmas Box)
By nature, I’m a night person when it comes to work, most especially now with our two very active kids. So, I have early nights, wake up in the middle of the night and stay up working till the break of dawn. And last night was no different. As a result I’d been sleeping alone and I’d come down with a cold for which I wasn’t taking any medication.
However, this morning I decided to go for nature’s remedy. (Apologies to the singles out there!) I climbed into our bed and wrapped myself around my wife. She responded and moved even closer to me. We cuddled! I didn’t know I’d missed her so much. And it seemed mutual. Hardly had we locked lips when our kids suddenly sprang at us and began to jump happily all over the bed.
I realized I’d missed my family. I’d been spending time with them but I’d not really taken the time to ‘enjoy’ them and allow them to ‘enjoy’ me. I mean appreciate them for them, their presence and its awesome significance in my life. Together, my wife and kids make my life wholesome and exceptionally special! I thank God for the gift of my lovely family!
And dads, that’s the essence of this holiday! (Never mind the rate at which those naira notes are leaving your bank account! After all, your family is the reason you’ve been working hard all year round!! I hope!)
This Christmas have fun with your loved ones and create sweet Xmas memories for your children. But most importantly remind them the reason for the season – Jesus Christ! And share the love of Christmas to others in cash and/or in kind!
“Want to keep Christ in Christmas? Feed the hungry, clothe the naked, forgive the guilty, welcome the unwanted, care for the ill, love your enemies, and do unto others as you would have done unto you.”
― Steve Maraboli.
And above all teach these to your children!
WISHING YOU AND YOUR FAMILY A MERRY CHRISTMAS!
DO HAVE A WONDERFUL FAMILY CELEBRATIONS AND A BLISSFUL DADDY-HOOD!
